Tideswell Male Voice Choir has a well-deserved reputation for it’s excellence in choral singing. First founded in the early 1950s, choir members at that time were mainly drawn from the beautiful village of Tideswell in the Peak District, however nowadays men travel from all parts of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester to be a part of this exciting group, enjoying rehearsals which continue to be held in Tideswell itself . Edwina Currie (best known as writer, broadcaster and politician) is a patron of the choir.
The Tideswell Male Voice Choir is not only itself a registered charity but over the past few years has raised extensive funds for other local charities in the High Peak area and beyond – such as Blythe House, Ashgate Hospicecare, Help for Heroes, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Derbyshire Air Ambulance, MacMillan Nurses, Tideswell Medical Foundation, Helen’s Trust, High Peak Mountain Rescue and The Christie. All of these have benefited from the charity work of this renowned group of musicians.
Continuing with their fund-raising, Tideswell Male Voice Choir joined forces this Summer with an extensive cast of musicians, singers and actors including West End professionals, to perform the finest moments from the world famous Les Miserables musical, appearing at 4 different venues in the North West ( Macclesfield, Morecambe, Blackpool and Buxton ).
