The Logic Wealth Planning office loves a round of golf. So for the third year running, our annual Charity Golf Day raised funds for the wonderful Springhill Hospice in Rochdale.

Over the last three years we have developed a strong bond with the dedicated people at the hospice. It’s important that we support community organisations. The palliative care offered by the amazing staff makes a huge difference, for people that really need that support.

What happens at Springhill Hospice?

Springhill Hospice is a 16-bed, purpose-built facility. It offers specialist care to patients and their families – from diagnosis through to end-of-life. It opened in 1989 and provides high standards of physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Crucially, the support extends to patients’ families, friends and carers. They need information, a friendly face, someone to help explain things, maybe a shoulder to lean on.

The facilities and services at Springhill Hospice include a day hospice, community services and spiritual support. There is a 24-hour specialist palliative care advice line, counselling and bereavement support services, and more.

In fact, there are beautiful gardens and lovely communal areas. These facilities need vital monies to keep them properly maintained.

Supporting charities matters

Everyone likes to raise funds for charity. It brings people together. It gives a common point of focus. Importantly, for the staff at Logic Wealth Planning, family and friends have needed the support of Springhill Hospice. Many visit relations. Some have worked there; however, most have now visited the hospice to fully appreciate what happens there. So it’s personal.

It’s important to develop an ongoing relationship with local organisations, just as we do with our clients. We understanding how they operate, what issues they face and how they overcome hurdles. It gives us additional motivation to support them in any way we can.

Charity golf day

Our annual golf event is now part of the fundraising mix. All proceeds from our charity golf days at Rossendale Golf Club go to Springhill Hospice. For our 2018 get-together, there was a handy break in the mid-August rainy weather (for most of the day). Fourteen teams took part, with over 50 golfers taking part.

How people performed around the course isn’t really the story; however, Steve Kean deserves a mention as the top scorer and overall winner. So well done him. Other players received trophies and awards during the post-golf dinner and drinks in the superb club house at Rossendale. For the evening session, over sixty staff, clients and friends attended. Fantastic.

Now the important stuff. This year we raised £3,555 from entry fees, the after-dinner raffle and other donations. It will be used on projects that benefit the organisation and the people who need the services they offer.

Ongoing support for Springhill Hospice

We do much more than that. To support the hospice and to promote Logic Wealth Planning’s services, we take regular advertising in the hospice’s newsletter and magazines. We do that at least 4-5 times each year. Continuing the golf theme (I know, there’s plenty of it) we enter a team of four into the hospice’s very own golf day.

We’re doing just that in September, at Rochdale Golf Course. It is Springhill Hospice’s 26th Annual Golf Day. You see, it’s not just us obsessed with golf!

So many other fundraising initiatives go on in and around the hospice. Other partners help to coordinate events. There’s a sunflower appeal, money collecting pots to be distributed, business buddies and a Light a Life event nearer Christmas. Why not join us in helping them to keep running the hospice?
